Christmas will come early for Christchurch fashionistas this week with the grand opening of the Glassons and Hallenstein Brothers City Mall megastore in CBD.

The flagship stores with over 1,000 square meters of fashion and their own DJ are two of the first to open in the new $80 million ANZ centre being developed by Tim Glasson.

Hallenstein Glasson Holdings CEO, Graeme Popplewell says the opening of the stores on the corner of Cashel and High Street will put Hallenstein Glassons back at the heart of Christchurch fashion in the new retail precinct.

“City Mall has a special place in our hearts. A Hallenstein Brothers store stood on this site for over 100 years before the 2011 Christchurch earthquake.

“Glassons started in Christchurch almost a century ago, so these new stores celebrate our history and our future here.”

“We are thrilled to be at the forefront of the revitalisation of the CBD and customers will step off the street and into the kind of retail experience you get in fashion capitals like London or New York”.

The megastore is the biggest in the new ANZ center with a state of the art fit out featuring a two story interactive digital screen.

Glassons will showcase an exclusive clothing range, created just for Christchurch fans to celebrate the Christchurch opening.

Hallenstein Brothers will have a full service tailoring department plus their largest ever ‘store within a store’ denim shop.

The stores will open their doors tomorrow, Thursday 17 November at 9:00am. Queues of fashion fans are expected for the event with the first 200 getting free mystery vouchers worth up to $500.
